What we store
- Only if you sign in: your Steam account ID, your public Steam name and avatar link (refreshed each time you sign in), and your Deadlock rank if the public deadlock-api.com has one for you.
- What you do while signed in: your votes on builds and tips, the tips you post, the builds you submit, and the last few builds and heroes you opened (for the search box's Recent list).
- We never see your Steam password. You sign in on Steam's own page, and Steam sends back only your public ID.
Why
Cookies and tracking
One cookie keeps you signed in: a signed session cookie, set only when you sign in, valid for 30 days or until you sign out. A second short-lived cookie (10 minutes) is set while you are on the way to Steam and back, to make sure the sign-in is yours.
There are no ads and no tracking cookies on this site (see Analytics below). Signed out, your Recent list stays in your browser's local storage and never leaves it. Our host, Vercel, keeps ordinary server request logs. If you click a Twitch stream card, Twitch's own player loads and Twitch's privacy rules apply to it. Avatars load from Steam's servers.
Analytics
We count how the site is used with PostHog, so we can fix what is slow or confusing. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Events go through our own address (/ingest) to PostHog's servers in the United States, and your IP address is not kept.
What it records: the pages you open, which hero, tab, rank filter or build you pick, when you copy a build or match ID, which results you click in search (and how many characters you typed, never the text), links you follow off the site, your browser, device type and rough country, how fast pages load, and errors in the page. Visitors are anonymous: a visitor ID is made on PostHog's servers from your browser details and changes every day, so we can't follow you from one day to the next, and signing in does not link it to your Steam account. We don't record sessions or what you type, and if your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is sent.
